The Tabasco Birds are an eight-piece band based out of Denton, Texas. Inspired by classic country-rock acts like The Band, Jerry Jeff Walker, and the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Tabasco Birds strive to channel the stage presence of large country bands while incorporating songwriting elements from a variety of genres and styles to recreate the energy and carefree atmosphere of live music. Formed by six high school friends from diverse musical backgrounds, we strive to push the boundaries of our songwriting and arranging capabilities, providing unique concert experiences across North Texas.

While the Tabasco Birds officially formed in August 2024, the link between these musicians dates back almost five years. Of the eight core members of the group, six attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (BTWHSPVA) in Dallas as students of the music guild. At this time, the members were split among two bands: Cathal would join the live band for Owen’s solo project, The Paper Bears, as rhythm guitarist, while Jake and Logan would release two albums under the moniker Flaming Tree. During this time, the two bands were constantly billed together and started to get to know one another.

By August 2023, the Paper Bears would leave for Denton as Cathal and Owen graduated from BTWHSPVA and moved to Denton. Over the next year, operations in both bands would slow down as, with Jake and Logan heading to UNT while the rest went elsewhere. Coincidentally, both groups were working on alternative, country-inspired albums and saw the potential of merging groups to form one supergroup that leaned into those country elements. With the addition of high school classmates-turned-UNT students Cole and Joel, the six would form the Tabasco Birds in August 2024, later adding Chris on vocals and Jack on bass by the end of the year. With Jack’s departure in July 2025 and the addition of Manse to fill bass, we reached our current lineup.
